Fishing For Carp In Asia

Fishing For Carp In Asia

If you are the sort of person with a bucket list, and you love fishing, it is likely you have one massive fishing trip lined up. Well, you might have a lot, but it is likely you are planning one major fishing trip, and we believe carp fishing in Thailand must be on your bucket list.

Why Thailand?

You have plenty of fantastic fishing destinations to choose from, all around the world, so why choose Thailand?

For the keen angler, one of the things we know you will love is fishing in warm weather. Cold lakes and rivers are the norm in the UK and Europe, but this doesn’t have to be the case.

If you want to feel the warmth on your back and enjoy a far more pleasant experience when fishing, you’ll find the climate in Thailand to be to your liking.

Also, when it comes to a variety of fish, and not to mention size and weight, there are few better places in the world than Thailand.

Types of carp in Thailand

One of the reasons carp fishing in Thailand is so popular is because there are many different types of carp on offer. Whether you are keen to catch as many varieties of carp as possible, or you like the challenge of facing off against this style of fish, Thailand offers the ideal opportunity for carp anglers.

Some of the carp you will find in Thailand include:

  • Big Head Carp

  • Black Shark Minnow

  • Catla or Indian Carp

  • Common Carp

  • Giant Siamese Carp

  • Jullien's Golden Price Carp

  • Mrigal Carp

Biggest carp in the world was caught in Thailand

If you are looking for a reason to choose Thailand as your ideal carp fishing destination, over any other location in the world, going on the hunt for the largest carp in the world has to be a great reason.

A British angler, originally from Devon, caught a carp that weighed 232 lbs. This is around 16 and a half stone, and it is over 100kg!

John Harvey was involved in an 80-minute battle to land this carp, which he did with help from two other anglers.

The carp was caught at the Palm Tree Lagoon at Chedi Hak in southern Thailand, and it smashed the record for the previously biggest carp caught by 10lbs.

You don’t need to capture a carp of this size to enjoy a fishing holiday in Bangkok, but if you’re looking for excitement, knowing there is fish of this magnitude out there has to be of interest!
